Hi. Though I'm impressed with the School, I still find that the teaching methods adopted by the teachers is found wanting. Like in other schools, the important subjects like Maths which should be properly explained to the students are not done in a methodical way. Instead it is being written on the board without any proper explanation just to complete their duty and portions. The students are not bold to ask the teacher to explain then and there. Even when asked to explain, the teachers ask the students to seek for doubts only after completing the exercise on the board by which time the actual period ends which is against the teaching ethics. Therefore atleast on reading this the teachers would correct themselves and impart correct teaching methods , so as to really benefit from such teaching.

Hi Krishna Kumar,
I have admitted my kid to Pre Kg. Can you please let me know what are the pros and cons of the school. what is it that your impressed about. What do you think is bad? And what is the connection between Padma Sheshadri and this school.

Hi Swarnalatha,

Jus wanted to clear ur queries regd CBSE & teachin pattern in PV.

CBSE: Pon VIDYASHRAM is affiliated to PSBB, and has the same pattern as that of PSBB. The management is same for both the schools.

Teaching: Its in par with PSBB & other CBSE schools. Wards r bein encouraged in various activities like drawin, singin and dancin, so on.

This is one of the best school, if this is close to your residence.

Hi,

This is a nice idea to discuss about the school out of the school. My daughter (Meghana Shakthi) is now is LKG (I presume D section) and royally walked into the classroom today.

My observation today..the school should do something seriously to the roads..it is going to get messier with heavier rains (if we had any this year).

Cool Folks!

Ashwin Kumar Iyer

P.S. to MOD: Please arrange the comments by descending order of dates (where latest comes first). It would be easier to follow up.

Pon Vidyashram - Valasarakkam...I am so disappointed with this school. My daugher studing from L.K.G has no knowledge of books...

The teachers are not trained or professionals. They do not have skills to teach k.g. students.

First of all the teachers illtreat the parents and never listens to them at any point of time.

I dont know how they treat the children... My God I will really change the school next year if this continues.

Pradeep said...

Looks like that Ponvidhyashram school has been running few sections without teachers. eg. Sixth standard, section B doesnt have any teacher for Social Studies and English despite 2 weeks, however regular classes seem to happen for Section A. Appreciate if atleast the existing teachers can share the load and take classes for both the sections alternatively. Thanks

Unknown said...

Dear Mr. Pradeep

You are 100% right. Do you know Class I - J section too has no class teacher.

Dont know what to do.....
Can anyone suggest for this.

drawbacks

1. poor road facility (past 2 year)
2. small, poor canteen ( i dont know how the authorities will allow this)
3. teachers illtreat the parents and never listens to them

my son is studying there from ukg. no w he is II standard.

I am searching a good / service minded school.

Hi

Does anyone know the "Real" CBSE Affiliation status of this school?

The Valasarawakkam branch name is not appearing in any CBSE communications for the affliated schools.

Their recent application for upgrading to secondary school (to have 9th and 10th I guess) got rejected (as per the CBSE website). I could not figure out whether the school is provisionally affiliated or got permanent affiliation.

Any informed soul out there?

Check the CBSE website. www.cbse.nic.in

Hi

My son is studying in Pon Vidyashram Injambakkam.Suddenly they increased the (doubled) their transport cost
Kindly confirm the transport cost of other places.

Unknown said...

Priya

My daughter is studying in Pon Vidyashram, Injambakkam. Recently they have doubled the transport fees because of diesel hike. I agree to that but there is no proper adequate van facilities to the students and they accomodate bulk of 50 students in a single van. We,the parents only request the management to take steps for van facility and not load the van.

Hope my problem takes into account by the chairman of Ponvidyashram seriously.

Hi,

Only minus I see in this school is they are not taking to nice excursions. I was taken to the children's park in Guindy and Cholamandal Art village. This is not suitable for our level. So I wish you take to nice field trips next year.

My son has been studying in this school from pre-kg.He is in stdI now. The school did a great job when he was in pre-kg and LKG. Problems slowly started cropping up when he was in UKG. There was no teacher till october and finally the school did find a good teacher. Now that he has come to the first std we were happy that they had a teacher. But unfortunately the teacher had to go on leave and the new teacher I find beats the students with a wooden scale which the children bring. All the parents of the class are disgusted about the teacher's behaviour. Next is the strength of the class. The gentleman in the admin had promised us that there would be no more than 30 students in each class. U must all be aware of the fact that all the classes have more than 42 students. The principal does not meet anybody and even if she gives appointment she will not keep up to it as I know of a parent who waited all day long from 11:45 a.m till the school gets over and went home without meeting the principal. No need to speak about the roads. Will the school take some action atleast after going through all these messages

Hello All,

I have two children studying in this school (Valasaravakkam).

Rightnow the water logging is there and the school is closed till 15th December.

But there seems to be no action taken to drain the water.

No temporary office is operating to handle the queries of the parents.

I dont think they treat the parent in a positive manner.

But the efficiency of some teachers is really good.

MOD, You can categorize the topics and publish more articles.

Before someone decides to get their children admitted at the valasaravakkam branch please have a look at the water logging near the school.

RDM said...

My Child in studying in UKG at Valsaravakkam. The Recent rains has flooded the School & its surrounding that it resembles a marooned island.
The School authorities have not set a make shift office & the School is closed since long. There has been no attempt by them to contact the parents by SMS or emails, though all such details are available with them.
The water is being drained but the work began just a couple a days ago... why didnt they begin it earlier?
As a parent while I would to extend the maximum cooperation to the school, the health of my child is more important.
We ALL Should insist on the following:
1) The entire area has to be fumigated, sprayed with disinfectants (there are reports of a buffalo having drowned near the school playground).
2) There has to be a report from an Independent agency on the Strength of the School Building.
3)The School SHOULD NOT rush through the portions & if necessary extend classes till May 15th.
4)We Should insist that the School authorities are more responsive to our Queries. Their present advise that we can our Child to another School is not the Solution we want after having Paid the Fees they had demanded. Such answers are Unwarranted.
5) The School Principal should Hold regular meetings with the Parents. There are reports that she doesnt meet any parent EVEN AFTER giving Appointments.

Ashwin Kumar Iyer said...

Dear All,

My Daughter studies in the LKG in the Valasaravakkam branch.

The school is completely flooded and I do not see the school reopening within this week. I have been following up with the school's cleaning up activities for the past two weeks. The water is being pumped out through 7 motors. We can see these pumps connected to the drainage through the back side of the school. I have met the principal sits in the Virugambakkam branch and is available in the morning times to meet. I have met her twice regarding this. The chairman was also available last week to meet.

I had expressed to them earlier and last week again that the pumping out with 7 motors is all absolutely inadequate for the sort of stagnation in the area. They have atlast decided to break open the compound on the back side. I also saw some government authorities along with the chairman surveying the school on saturday.

From What I understand, the school might reopen from Classes 1st and above from next week. They are planning to have a temporary passage and a direct staircase to the first floor. The basement will not be open for now (I would recommend the basement to be closed forever, since it is a permenant problem). For the KGs to my understanding, the classes would resume only in January.

Thanks and Regards,

Ashwin Kumar Iyer

Pon Vidyashram Parents Association

Minutes of the meeting held on 13th Dec 2008 at school premises, Rajesh Avenue, Virugambakkam.

A Parents’ association has been formed as on date to represent academic and functional issues pertaining to school and Mr A. Ramabhadran and Mrs. Balasubramaniam has been asked to interact with the school authorities.

The Valasaravakkam school has not been functioning since the last week of November due to heavy water logging in and around the school premises, and with the information that the school is going to start on Monday the 15th of December 2008, a good number of parents gathered at their Virugambakkam branch, to discuss the reopening of school at Valsaravakkam branch with the Chairman Mr. Damodaran, Principal Mrs. Vijayalakshmi and Academic Consultant Mrs Pushpa Bala Jagam.

At the outset the association unanimously conveyed to the school authorities that all the parents are behind the school for the current crisis and will extend all their support and cooperation to the school’s management.

The key points raised by the parents were as follows:

01) Providing a clean and safe environment before reopening the school
02) Ensuring structural stability and safety of the building
03) Clearance from civic authority regarding hygiene and sanitation
04) Coming up with a permanent solution to the current water logging problem and ensure that it does not repeat through the following years.

The Chairman and the management of the school responded to the above points as:
Expressing an equal concern regarding the safety aspect and they have promised that the school will not reopen unless the basic school environment is cleaned up and the safety measures are adequately worked.
The Chairman apprised us as to the measures taken by the school to expedite the reopening of the school and set up a tentative opening date to 22nd of this month. This suggestion was generally accepted by the parents subject to points no 1 and 2 above

Subsequent to this certain academic aspects were also discussed by parents,

01) Strategy the school will take up to make up the lost time and academic portions
To this the Chairman and the academic consultant replied that the school might extend till end of April 2009 to cover up the portions and if need be Saturdays may also compensated, which was largely agreeable to the parents present there.
02) Certain other academic points like setting up proper science labs and curriculum portions and realization for each term to be communicated to the parents
The Chairman said that they will have a proper and functioning lab in the next academic year and Principal agreed to share the information regarding the curriculum and academic transparency.

Subsequent to the above meeting, there was another meeting held on Monday 15th of December at the residence of Mrs Y G Parthasarathy, where it was decided that the school authorities will not hurry the opening of school and will ensure complete safety of what was discussed earlier and will open the school on 5th of January 2009.

Parent association, later on has decided to assemble in the Valasawakkam school premises on 27th of December 2008 at 3.30 pm to get the first hand information of the progress of work.

Also, their is a meeting on the 27th of December 2008 for all the parents in the school premises (valasaravakkam) at 3.30 pm.

Request all the parents to attend the meeting.

Dear Parents

Why PV is projected under PSBB banner?

Instead the management of 'ponnammal educational trust' should try to improve the educational strength along witht good school environment like good roads, lab, and playgoround with trees.

Teachers should not be changed or left in between which is commonly shared by the parents many standards..this will affect the morale of the student.

Unknown said...

I sincerely feel pity to all the children/parents and of course the school management,

The school was doing very well with their routine and due to the natural calamity and poor management of the civic authorities we are all facing such a crisis,

I sincerely pray to the management that once the school reopens utmost care to be taken not only in completing the academic syllabus but also the connecting road to the school from Arcot road has to be properly maintained.

We the Indians have a very good habit of forgetting/forgiving things but the management should consult with the civic authorities to avoid such recurrence in the future.

Pon Vidyashram I am sure will reach new heights in the future provided we do not repeat the present mistakes which happened this time

ram.badran said...

Hi

Couple of parents (including me) visited the school yesterday 20th December 2008 to get an update on the progress of work being done in the school.

The general view that we got was that the hired people are working round the clock to clear the water in and around the school and quite an amount of water has been cleared.

The authorities have also started painting the class room and cleaning of the children table and chairs.

We also met the chairmen, who has taken up residence near the school, to get his views and he is quite confident that all the work that the school promised will be completed by the time school reopens on 5th of January 2009.

Just a gentle remainder to everybody: Their is a meeting with the school management on 27th of this month at Valasarawakkam premises at 3.30pm

Brief update form 27th:
1) The school is schduled to re-open on 5th of Jan as announced earlier by the management.
2) On permanent solution to the current problem, the management has told us that they will get back with a plan shortly.
3) Later in a meeting among the parents, it was proposed that a meeting be held among all parents on 3rd SAT of the Jan09 at 3:00 PM to form the association who would represent all the parents and work with the school to ensure that all the existing problems are addressed. It would also be the forum to continously interact with the school authorities to further strenghten the operation in all possible ways.

Dear Bloggers,

My son is studying in III std in Ponvidyasharam,Injabakkam. We joined him in I std. Iam observing the extent of coaching since I Std has been degrading. Adding to this the class strength has been increased to 40. There is inadequate supervision and it is left to the parent to get his child to score. Pity the purpose of sending the student to learn gets deafted. Any one there feeling the same way please share your feeling.

Unknown said...

dear bloggers,
as mr. karupannan said i have come across a lot of parents saying the same thing.they feel that the school is losing the standard.but i should agree that there are a few teachers who deserve a credit.
any parent who are wishing to change over to another school the next academic year please put your thoughts as to why u came to that decision on this blog so that other parents will alsocome to know the flaws

MahanIndia said...

I am one of the many parents decided to move out of the school by next year.

The below list is mainly about the valasai branch and not sure whether any will apply to injambakkam branch as well.

- Management’s attitude: They are lying even after so much of exposure during the rains. Look at the PWD Civil engineers’ certificate they have displayed. It claims that the inspection is done on 23rd Dec afternoon (before Christmas) and found no water in the class rooms. Those who happened to visit the premises during Christmas know for sure how much of water was found in the ground floor KG class rooms. They are lying blatantly. That proves how reliable is the inspection report. Like anywhere else in India, Govt. official was bought over by the money power I guess.

- Lack of transparency: We are yet to get official word regarding CBSE status for their valasai branch.

- Management Attitude: Current office bearers, Ms. Vijayalakshmi, Principal and Pushpabala Jagam - both of them are arrogant and don’t have the kind approach towards the parents. They feel parents are inferior to them and MUST obey or do what they want them to do. Absolutely not open to any ideas, grievances and complaints. They never accept their mistakes even if you prove them undoubtedly.

- The teaching passion is missing from most of the teachers. I am not saying for ALL teachers. There are few exceptional teachers who love to teach and interact with children. I noticed few teachers go out of their routine way to help the underperforming children.

- Victimizing attitude of the principal – It is clear that the teachers and staff who were “claimed” to be close to the earlier principal Ms. Padmini Sarathy are sidelined, humiliated, victimized and removed. Most of the teachers who left in the past year are so were not happy the manner in which they were treated. This is a FACT.

- Absolute zero focus on extra-curricular activities such as arts and sports. The principal and Ms. Jagam may talk aloud about value education, but don’t want to focus on anything other than academics and so called “Strict discipline”; Value education is much more than being punctual and strict.

- Facilities: Basic facilities are lacking. The library is not rich enough (more story books than edutainment); Activity labs for English, math and science are completely missing.

- Hygiene: Bathrooms are still stinking. The frequency of cleaning the toilets is twice or thrice a day while the ideal frequency should be once or twice in an hour.

- Organized and structured: Have any one noticed any function or gathering of the school conducted on time. How many times the parents whose kids were participating in the cultural events felt that it could be done better? Every time the teachers are more focused on deciding the color of the saree and makeup they should be wearing for the event. The administrators are one bunch of jokers who can’t organize even a small function in the school properly.

- Parking: Looks like the comfort for the school drivers and their parking is more important than the safety of the kids. They don’t have adequate space to allow smooth movement of parents vehicles or external autos.

I think enough is said already. The above is based on my perception and not necessarily the generic comment. However I am sure there are many parent who would agree with me.

i too totalloy agree with mahal india and many other parents who have criticised the school. they management is not service oriented and do not inprove the infrastructure of the valasaravakkam branch for which they get capitation fees of around 25,000 rs per student. instead they utilise that money to buy new grounds to open new branches like in kolappakkam and velachery. dear parents dont u think the money the used to buy these lands is our hard earned money which we had given thinking the infrastructure of our kids school will be improved. is there any difference between saravana bhavan which is opening too many branches with business mind and pon vidyashram.most of the parents of PV are highly educated but we all are treated as illetrates by the school management. wake up parents wake up. its our right to ask about the stability of the building. no more kumbakonam incident once more.

I heard they are going to open new branch in Valasarawakkam near Friends Part Hotel for KG classes. But the school building construction has not yet commenced.

This is a great plan, they collect the building fund now from these kids and then start the construction. What a lucrative business!

Next year they will start an higher section like 8th or 9th. They do not have the lab facilities for these classes.

Irony, they do not have funds to keep their restrooms clean!

Hi

Excellent to know about this blog. I think almost all parents have the same feedback. But if this is taken into account at all by the management is a big question. My child is studying here from Pre-Kg and now he is in II std. I see the same kind of confusions from the first day of school every year to the traffic arrangements till date. I think they lack a good management team. The admin guys and ayahs are the ones who seem to have all the powers.
I think the standard of education is good but if they dont rectify their problems at least now it might bcome too late bcos i think lot of people are changing the school next year.
Hope things change.

Just want to give my entire collection here:

1. School is under staffed. No additional teachers if a teacher goes on leave. Ayahs manage the class.

2. Teachers are not well qualified. Take a look at the TC circular given to the kids.

3. Around 40 position for teaching needs to be filled by June.

4. Teachers PF is not credited to the account. I am sure PF account does not exist for them.

5. They did lot of manipulations last year to get the CBSE approval. They cooked books on teacher salary etc. They opened SBI hyderabad bank accounts for direct debit of teachers salary. They stopped it after CBSE approval.

6. They are going to rent couple of houses @Valasarawakkam for KG classes next year. With the money collected, they are going to construct the school building near Sri Devi gardens.

7. Chairman did not show up for Sports day event last week fearing parents kero.

8. Summing up..I am moving my kid out of the school.

Hey any idea of Ponvidyashram, Injambakkam branch. Behaviour of the kids, academics, etc.,

ExTeacher said...

Heard this one today..

Looks like Sridevikuppam branch in Valasarwakkam is not going to be come as it did not get approval.

If confirmed, each class (Pre-kg A, Pre-kg B) will get a partition and kids get jammed in one class.

Also the management has bought land next to Velachery MRTS station. Remember how they faced issues during its constructin bcos of marsh land. Lets wait and see whether its going to be valasarawakkam II?

Dear all,

I want to know the lastest developments in the PV school valasaravakkam branch.

MahanIndia said...

Few days ago the children were forced to assemble at the ground to cheer up for the cricket match in the hot sun.

While the portions are yet to finish, they waste their time in all these activities.

At least they can leave out those who do not want to participate instead of forcing.

Does anyone know who many TC applications were received at valasarawakkam branch this year ?

That shows the current state of this institition.

Hi, I want to put my kid in 1st std - PV Velachery.

Is it worth bringing him from Ashram to PV - Velachery ?
Does this school really have CBSE accreditation currently or have applied for it?
Are the teaching methods good - is the quality maintained as good as PS?
It would be of great help if someone let me know the details ASAP.. Pls help.

- Sathya.

ExTeacher said...

Number of TC applied will be around 500. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sathya - Pls. don't transfer your kid from Ashram to here. Not worth the salt.

I am here to post about the fee collected for costumes for the annual day celebrations.

Minimal charge is Rs.350 with additional charge of Rs.25 for light makeup and Rs.50 for heavy makeup. For other roles they are charging Rs.450. They could get a better deal with the costume dealer. In addition, cost of set properties is also shared by the students.

I have rented costumes for my daughter and they don't charge these exorbitant rates. If we return them in-tact they refund the security deposit.

Bottom line, there is some brokerage both to the teacher who co-ordinates with the costume shop and the school!

ExTeacher said...

Well things are getting better at PV Valasai

I overheard from one of the parent that her daughter has been charged Rs.750 for the costumes. Hope they do not charge for watching our kids perform at the stage. Knock on the wood!!

Well plight of my daughter in KG class continues. Her class teacher leaves around 1pm and they are on their own till 2pm. Ayahs have to manage them till their van arrives. Only thing we can do is pray, that our kids does not get hurt while the teachers are not around!

This is atrocious! Shame on the Principal and Management of the school. I do not understand how the PSBB chairman Mrs.Parthasarathy endorses this kind of school. Shame on her too!
There is no difference between these people and the corrupt politicians of this country.

Well, let me stop with this since I don't want to mix up politics with school management :)

The school started under the able guidance of Mrs. Padmini Sarathy, who has put in all her efforts to make this school survive under pressures from natural calamities, financial calamities and parental calamities.

But now where is the school heading to? No decoram.
the teachers, who are leaving, are leaving because they are not well paid or well treated. They are treated like ayahs themselves.

There is no system or independence of working. Education has been kept in the last step in Pon Vidyashram.

I personally convinced a parent, who has already paid fees for the next academic year, not to put her kids here. FEES ONCE PAID WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. For that reason, she will continue here.

If it is done as a business, PV will not survive. What happened to parents? Dont they the true face of PV?

PV has to move slightly closer to education than making money.

Hi,

I put my daughter in Pon Vidyashram when we were not given a seat in PSBB. She studied there for 2 years, and I worked as a teacher there too. You can be a graduate to become a teacher there, need not have any training or B.Ed.
The infrastructure is pathetic as all those who had been associated with the school for more than 2 years would know by now. It will not get affiliated to CBSE. I changed my daughters to a better school in the year 2007 after paying a whooping fee of 35,000 (20000 for my younger daughter who had just got admitted & nearly 15K for my elder daughter who was then going to 1st Standard). The van service is pathetic & when I questioned about it, I was treated very badly and so were my children by the great Mrs. Vijailakshmi. With extreme bitterness and curses I had to remove my kids within 2 months of the school reopening as my kids refused to go to school.
End of the day I want my child to feel happy going to school and not get scared to go there.
I am giving this blog only to let you know of my bitter experience in the year 2007-08. If things have changed now for good, I wish you parents all the best. But if you are enrolling your child in this school, please enquire before you do this.

The relationship between PS & Pon Vidyashram is Pon Vidyashram pays a royalty to use PSBB Guidance. I stops with PSBB let them have an insight on their teaching methods. They do come and supervise the school occasionaly, but it is not the same as PSBB. Please note this. if you are expecting this school to be like PSBB then you are in for a big disappointment.
The crowd & no of sections is so huge that only the smarter kids are given an opportunity. Not all kids are given equal opportunity to participate. I think all children should be made to feel special in some way or the other. The job of the teacher is not just to teach and go, but to find out the talent in each child and showcase the same.
As a ex-teacher of this school I had not done this, I felt bad only when I see that the current school my children are studying in is giving each and every child a role in all the school functions, so that each child has some thing to contribute in the school functions.

Wanna to post few short notes regarding the happenings @ school.

1. One of my friend's kid studying in Pre-KG got a painful bruise on his body..Kid was complaining that ayah picked and throw him like a stone.

2. I came to know another Annual day event is held separately for higher classes sometime in August, which is relatively a "cool" period. Why can't they conduct the annual day for KG sections at that time..atleast they can swap the events? A "thinking" management will surely do...

3. Also this Sunday Mar 28th is the annual day and Monday is a working day. Well the reason given by the teachers --> "Parents should be smart enough not to send the kids next day of the event". Are we?

4. School is working on Saturday Mar 27th, which the day before the annual day. I am sure teachers are going to be busy and the kids. I think we should be smart enough to understand the statement above.

5. New Premises at Valasarawakkam? Parents who got admitted their kids for KG for next year...Please remind yourself and ask the question to the Management WHERE?

This is with regard to the recent Annual Day function for UKG students.

The arrangements were pathetic.... 1.The crowd was simply too big as they had combined 5 schools for this occassion. The Hall was overfilled. Several parents were forced to sit on the ailes & passages & several were standing thus blocking & obstructing the view of those seated. No teacher or volunteer were present to make these people sit or move out.

2.The AC wasnt working throughout but only on very infrequent intervals.
3. Can you imagine the plight of the small kids waiting in the backstage without AC for more than 5 hours?
4.The programs were very good & the teachers + The Participants should be congratulated.
5. However, it must be mentioned that the amount charged towards the costume & make up was just too high.... In fact, the parents had to help in dressing & applying make up. Looks like the schhol authorities made a lot of money either for the school or for themselves.
6. Hope the school learns a lesson from this & arranges its program next year in a bigger Hall (Nehru Indoor Stadium which is having AC) or have it school wise instead of clubbing all the branches togather.

As the teachers are not up to the mark, and they are not trained professionals
also show partiality with students
Never listen to parents words
childrens are not treated properly

I dont blame all the teachers
Request the manangement to look in to it,otherwise the pattern they follow with PSBB is good

PTA in Pon Vidyashram is only for the name sake. It was formed during the recent flooding of the school and since then very silent. The current self elected president Ram is one big Chamcha for the management. He will not even voice anything against Jagam or the management.

Look at the recent post he did about "Biased approach" on 30th March and asking us to focus on Postive things. Since then I am trying hard to figure out one positive thing about this school and I cound find none.

If you are expecting the PTA to be functional, please look for other schools.

Please stop criticizing the school like this and stop grumbling. They have well equipped science lab. The class rooms are really spacious. And it was not their fault that water got collected in the school. Some locals broke the wall guarding the Porur Lake which enabled water to rush into the school. And as for some parents comment on teachers not giving chance to every child to showcase their talent they are extremely wrong. Infact they allow every child to participate in activities of higher class students. Like in Science Day the youger people of class 1 through 5 were asked to bring models and charts for the Science Day and and also told to explain them. So, please suggest some positive suggestions to improve the school instead of complaining.

Hi Parents,

I jus would like to share my experience. During the Annul Day programme on 3rd April that held in 'Kamarajar Arangam', my son din't appear in the stage. But still me & my hubby was thinkin' thta he mus' not be fine as he was crying a little. Hence we decided to take collect him from the respective class teacher.

But when we went there, neither the teachers nor the aayaammas able to spot my child. There were lotsa confusion and tension prevailed say for atleast 20 mins. Finally, one aaya spotted my kid (LKG) with some other branch school.

I feel this is mainly b'cos they are combining all the branches and also no proper planning, as the convocation went on for 2 hrs and then followed by highter sec students dance (which is totally not reqd). All pre-kg, lkg & ukg kids were dressed up since 1 pm and was made wait upto 4.30 pm, if Iam not wrong.

These situations can be brought onto the table of the school management, only when we parents unite in this, so that from next time, it wil be well-organized. Hope all the parents can understand my point here.

We parents have to raise some good suggestions in this.

For the past 4years I am watching the same confusions during the Annual Day programmes. The management should make proper arrangements for this kind of programmes as for as possible. The teachers are also getting much tension on that day.

Hi

I am a student of this school and I have been following this blog for a while now. I see many negative sounding posts here and would like to contribute by highlighting a few plus points of PON VIDYASHRAM, whereby we as students enjoy our time at school:

1) Recently the school hosted a Karuna Club inter school competition on the values of Karuna. In the competition held by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Harrington Road, we won the second prize in the dance competition. We were also adjudged the best cheer leading school.

2) Many of our athletes have won medals in various district and city meets conducted in the city for various outdoor and other sports like athletics, chess and swimming.

The above two points are to demonstrate that our school is also emphasizing on co-curricular activities.

3) The school keeps us aware about the science world by letting us to do experiments in a well equipped science lab.

4) The library contains a wide variety of books consisting of fiction, biographies and other educational books.

5) The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education and got its affiliation during 2008.

6) In the case of academics, I see no holes in the teachers’ teaching methods. We as students are quite satisfied with our teachers.

HIP HIP HOORAY FOR PON VIDYASHRAM!!!!!

Dear All,

I also find that the blog is bending towards uncontructive critisicm instead of constructive discussion on how to help the school grow a.k.a our children to develop. Unfortunately many posts are not more than libel.

I accept that there are certain drawbacks that the school is facing and I am sure they are working to wipe it off for their own good and also the kids. And, there are no schools without drawbacks and also no school without unsatisfied parents. What requires is little professionalism on the school's part and little maturity on our part. I have met the Principal many a times, atleast whenever I wanted to and also the correspondent. I do not think they are inaccessible. I have complained to them and suggested to them about the school. They certainly have a patient ear and we need to wait for implementation.

I just hope that this blog becomes more positive in nature, which does not necessarily mean praising the school, but means thinking positive in terms of what should be done assuming that the school would do it. If we assume that the school is not going to listen to what we say, then no point in blogging and even keeping them in the school. What would remain is a bunch of hate campaign.

Warm Regards,

Ashwin Kumar Iyer

Hi Adithya

Nice comments. Glad that you have a great positive approach and thus you shall have a great future.

You need to understand few things which probably are beyond your caliber at this age.

a. Extracurricular activities: What you see happening in Pon Vidyashram is probably a minor fraction of what should be possible by the school of this size. Pon Vidyashram never prepares the students for participation with any of the "Recognized" sporting or cultural events. There are some students who excelled in the sporting events and appeared in the school sports day banner as well. Out of the photos that appeared in the sports day banner how many of them are prepared by the school.

CBSE conducts every year sports competition (for various sports) among the CBSE schools. Can you find out from your school why they did not participate? The reason is the schools is not properly “Affiliated” and have not paid the sporting necessary fees. This I heard from one of the school parent who was trying to put their children in CBSE competition.

b. Teacher’s skills: You are probably too young to understand how well or bad your teachers are skilled. As a person who had seen many schools and as part of the board of a good international residential school, you can take my word for it. There are only few teachers in PV who can qualify to be a teacher. Most of the teachers are pathetic. If you are so adamant, probably get the CD of the annual day function, play it in your DVD player, listen to the announcements by the teachers very carefully, may be taking the help of some adult with good English knowledge.

How many grammatically incorrect statements you could see? By the way the speech, announcements etc., are pre-prepared for the public function. If this is the state of the “English” used in the public function, you could guess the level in class rooms.

If the school is well equipped with qualified teachers, why can’t they come clean with the number of teachers’ qualification wise?

c. CBSE recognition: Adi, you are saying this because the school authorities said so right? Do you know for sure whether they say the truth?

Why the school is not coming out clean regarding the CBSE affiliation status? They should be transparent; from what we could see from CBSE records, the school is temporarily affiliated. CBSE affiliation is possible only if they satisfy certain criteria. The conditions are public information and are available from CBSE site on the web. Looking at PV, they certainly don’t qualify on most of the criteria. Like most of the run-off-the-mill schools, even they know how to get away with the rules and regulations.

While this list can keep going on and on, our intentions are not that. Our intentions are making the management sensitive about these points and take some constructive steps forward.

a. The management is not open to any ideas.
b. They are not transparent in their activities. We can site many examples from CBSE affiliation to KG new building.
c. The fees collected are exorbitant and certainly not commensurate to the facilities and quality.
d. The management is full of totally disorganized people. Recent example is that exam on the coming Friday is getting postponed to Saturday or later because it is a Good Friday. They don’t even plan ahead and take care of these.
e. PTA is only for name sake and does not function nowadays. Yes. They did a good job in working with the management and diluting the parent’s anger during the rainy days. However it is non-existent or dormant since then.

I know as a student you Adithya, may not be really concerned for most of the above issues. While addressing directly to you, I intend to bring out bit more clarity for other readers of this blog.

Thanks and wishing you all the very best.

I just got to know about this blog and gone through the opinion of some of the parents (One of them is ex-teacher also). It seems majority is not satisfied with the school’s current performance and have expressed their deep concern. But funny thing is that, nobody has suggested for any school which is performing flawlessly. Even the ex-teacher too has hidden the name of her children's current school! Criticism is good only when it throws some lights to the solution also. People spend time reading this type of blogs to get some positive information for their kid's future. It's a common trait of human being to react badly whenever they are deprived of some competitive or undue advantages for any reason. But that should be counted as some one’s personal reaction and that no way help others in taking a correct decision.
My son has been studying in PV for last three years (Pre-KG to UKG). And my overall impression to this school is satisfactory, neither too good nor bad. As it is in inception stage, it is undergoing some problems, which I believe they can overcome easily. Moreover it's difficult to draw a conclusion about the standard of PV, as it has five branches and they all are different in nature in terms of maturity, facilities, teacher's skill etc. First two years my son studied in Virugambakkam branch and the third year in Injambakkam. There can be no comparision between these two branches even. Valsaravakkam branch had experienced very hard time during latest heavy downpour. But that was due to a natural disaster and because of not having any contingency plan (which one should not expect also at this stage). But it should be a learning experience for them and should take adequate measures to avoid repetition of this miserable consequence. I am sure already they had to pay heavy price which is getting reflected in no. of TC!! As far as teaching staff concerned it's a mixture of good and mediocre. Always remember experienced teachers hardly join in any new school unless they are paid heavily like in any international school (Imagine the fees of international schools!). Though the same experienced teacher can join in already established school even in low salary for their carrier growth and own benefit. Hence I suggest school authority to put a solid teaching methodology in place which can overcome shortfall of teacher if any. Partiality (as blamed by one bloger) is a common issue in every institution and unavoidable too.
Let's come to the recent convocation cum Annual Day function. It was really overcrowded and tiring program. But mainly that is because of the convocation part of so many students! From next year onwards they should separate this part from the cultural program, otherwise many kids could suffer from health related problems due to long waiting with make up. But once children began the cultural activities, it made everybody forget about all troubles! It's an amazing performance by all the tiny tots. Hats off to the teachers, management and all other support staffs for their whole hearted effort! Some of the parents have complained about the charges paid towards the costumes and makeup for their wards participating in this program. I am really surprised to know the amount (Rs. 700.00)! But I had to pay Rs. 230.00 for my son who participated in dance program. That means it varied either from branch to branch or for different roles played in function. In this regard I want to add one more point; at the end of the program we noticed few children are going back home wearing costumes whereas most of the kids had to return back their costumes. Could it be a reason of varying charges? Rather what shocked me most on that day is the quick departure of great Y G Parthasarathy from the stage. So far primary education concerned, she is considered as a very important person(VIP) in Chennai and spectators along with students and school’s staffs expected her to have with them for some times. Her hurried departure seemed to be awkward at least momentarily at that stage of the program. Having said this, I intended not to show any disrespect to her rather I wanted to mean that she is a VIP and could have some other appointments but had it been planned properly it would neither have appeared as an embarrassing situation to all nor she had to snatch the microphone from the announcer to made a very hasty speech. How could we forget that every kid is a VIP to his/her parents?
At last, I would like to say that it’s very much important to patiently wait for some more years (At least till their first batch pass out 10th Std) before jumping to draw a conclusion about the overall standard of PV. There are lots of scopes for improvement. The school authority should put an honest effort to filling up gaps and take it to the next level. I request them not to give sole priority to the business only. As they are tagged with one of the leading schools in Chennai, naturally people’s expectation from them is also very high. It’s their onus to meet people’s expectation in coming years. We, the parents, teaching staffs, supporting staffs and management should work as a team and go hand in hand.
We all should help them moving forward by providing them suggestions. But if they don’t pay any attention to the parent’s grievances and suggestions, they will be looser in the long run. There are not sufficient good schools in Chennai which can produce a large no. of capable students who can compete at national level also. It’s an age of globalization. Chennai is becoming a cosmopolitan city and mingling with the people from other parts of the country. Students are facing more competition today. So it is the need of the hour to have more and more good schools. Let’s hope PV will stand on its own feet and come up as a leading school, where children will grow happily. If it does not happen options are open to the guardians, but that is definitely not what, the school looks for. Thumbs up and keep smiling.

Its been over 6 years we are with the school and what you described here is the same scenario year by year.

Mrs. YGP I hardly remember attending any function till the end in all these years.

I would reiterate what you said.

The school authority should put an honest effort to filling up gaps and take it to the next level. I request them not to give sole priority to the business only. It’s their onus to meet people’s expectation in coming years. But if they don’t pay any attention to the parent’s grievances and suggestions, they will be looser in the long run.

Don't worry PV is open for persons who are relocating to chennai. Anytime, you can get the admission. Only thing is you have to pay the fees for the full academic year.

Surprisingly i have seen this blog while other search and happy to see such a blog.
My son is going to I std in valasaravakkam branch.
In few days the next academic year is going to begin. Let us hope for the best.
My son is studying from LKG. I feel ok about the standard of the school.
Like Anit told, we have to wait at least for one batch have to passed out for 10th, then only we can come for a conclusion about the standard of the school.

One more thing, Kindly let us know about the current status of the parents association and about the meeting dates and minutes.

Hey there,

Had gone yesterday to pick up the books for my son, who is going from Pre-KG to LKG.....horrors of horrors, guess how many books were there in total? 4 text books - one art book, one colouring book, one numbers book plus 2 note books and brown sheets and labels....and the cost of these? 916! too much....

Unknown said...

Hi Deepa,
What's shocking to you? No. of books or the price of that or both? Based on our past experience, one thing I can tell you that the quoted price might include few more books/note books which will be given to the kid in due course.

Hi,

I am thinking of putting my son in PV next academic year 2010 - 2011. Apart from the infrastructure, is there any other issue you think of? Please advice me. I think infrastructure will improve in a year or 2. but is there any other persistent issue which needs to be thought of?

Btw, I heard there is a new campus for this branch.. where is it? Please advice.

Hi Anit, no, that is actually the whole set of books for the entire yrs of LKG, thats why i was shocked...the same set of books cost only 350 in PSBB, how is it possible?

can somebody tell me the exact location?
I would like to put my dayghter in PV

Unknown said...

Hi Deepa,
Are sure the same set of books cost only 350 Rs. in PSBB! If so, then can you ask the reason to school authority? It is really surprising!

Unknown said...

I totally agree with Siva's suggestion of covering children's play area. It's really required to avoid any accident caused by terrific heat. If school authority wants to give importance to parent's opinion/suggestion given through this blog, they should take necessary actions immediately. It's always better to work proactively rather than reactively.

Hi,
I have put my son in Pre KG this June in PV - Valasaravakkam. I heard a lot good about this from my friends. But by seeing this blog, it looks that this is not the right place for my son.

I have heard from my wife that the parents are made to wait in sun during the 1 hour for little ones. This is very bad. They should have some shelter atleast.

I have one more worry. Since my son will be in LKG next year, will moving him to some other school be possible or schools dont take from LKG?

Also I am planning to move to OMR. Can you suggest some good school in vicitiy of OMR?.

Your inputs are highly appreciated.

My experience in the last one month about this is school is not at all student/parent friendly. The facilities or procedures or the care the school management/teachers are taking is not up to the expectations when compared to the hype they have created.

- I do not see a proper pathway for the kids from the school van parking area till the classroom. I saw on little girl( I guess LKG student)while walking along with other students in the van, she fell down and the caretaker(sally transport) is not at all bothered about the kid.

- There is no clear first aid facility if kids fall sick. When asked about this to one "responsible" teacher she said we will take the kid to "some" nearby doctor. Is this the way a "teacher" respond? When the school is opening admissions for pre-kg(for 2.5-3year old kids) and each section contains ~30 students, is it not a minimal expectation?

- During the last parent's meeting, the management explained how and what each parent have to do for their children which is good and informative. But, they did not tell anything about how they are going to take care. I am not sure what kind of importance they have given for the feedback they received from parents. Are they meant only for formality/documentation purpose?

I am also worried like how many more bitter experiences we may have to see going forward.

Rajasekhar Gogula said...

Hi all,

Today, during the teacher-parents meeting, I observed some parents giving money(bribe) to "Aaya" so that she can pay some good attention towards their kids. Though the intention/requirement is good, we know giving bribe is as bad as taking bribe. Certain places ( particularly govt offices, hospitals) we cannot avoid but in schools, we can avoid.

Where are we heading towards. What message are we giving to our children? If our kids know that, they will also learn and implement the same.

My humble request is that please do not entertain this kind of practices(bribe) in our school. If you agree with me please convey this message to at least three more parents of Pon Vidyashram students and spread this message.

We should also understand that school management cannot take care of each and every thing. Even we have some responsibilities. If anyone feels that "aaya" is getting paid less, there are lot many ways to deal this.

Hope everyone agree with me.:-)

Regards,

Rajasekhar

Least said about the school better, because each one of us (parent) has some bitter experience or the other with the school, especially, infrastructure, safety of children, etc not to speak of the quality of teaching. Another shocker is that the teacher's send class students to purchase samosas, snacks, etc. during the class hour and eat the same before the students. It is not known whether they pay for that or the student is made to pay for that. Is Mr.Damodaran, Correspondent or Mrs.Y.G.Parthasarathy, who is directly supervising this not aware of this. In case they are not, let them know by this.

I also have my daughter studying in pv valasaravakkam. the school is ok---far far away than what i expected it to be when i admitted my child there. the toilet facilities are literally 'stinking'.Teachers may up for the classes they miss by eating into the break and lunch time of these poor 2nd std kids. the class teacher my girl had last year was the most discouraging lady, spending time with only those children whose parents kept in touch with her by sending her flowers and taking photos with her!she was reluctant to even discuss about my childs progress and seldom allowed the children to drink water in between classes. this yr the teacher is loving and only now have i seen my child developing a positive attitude and breaking out of her shell.

For the parents who want to admit their children to this Valasai branch...

This PV is so called CBSE School with out any facility other than meager teaching that a CBSE school should have

My daughter is also studying in this school.

They just want to make money by publishing it as PSBB - Sister Concern and all that non sense

It has got nothing to do with PSBB

They just follow the teaching pattern of PSBB. Thats all.

This school does not even have a proper play ground, good library and other extra curricular activities

The management is purely money minded and runs this school as a business center

Another very important thing - teachers in this school keep changing very frequently and children get disturbed thoroughly

The teaching STD is also not that great

I can summarise it like it’s an ok school of mediocre STD convenient to the nearby residents.

I wonder if any parents think about their young kids (KG's) studying in cramped classrooms. They have 11 sections of LKG/UKG etc with 40 students each. A regular class room was partitioned to accomodate two sections!

I still see parents enquiring about the kids admission. This clearly reflects that even educated people go after brand names blindly without worrying about the quality.

Reading this blog PV management will be very happy about their demand and may even open a branch of their school in your flat's "mottai madi" and people will still throng in queues for their kids admission.

Open up your mind fellas!

The School (PV Val) reopened on 17th Aug. There was an interview On Sunday's Times Of India where Smt.YGP informed everyone that Masks will be provided to all students, classrooms will have agarbhattis burning & that the bathrooms will be very clean.

The reality is however just the opposite. In V Valsaravakkam, the bathrooms are stinking as usual, no masks have been given.

My daughter studies in 1std & her Classroom is very near to the bathroom. She complains how dirty it is & she tries not to use it at all. I am afraid that not going to relieve herself will lead to some serious health problem for her in the days to come.

One parent approached the Principal Mrs.Vijayalakshmi about the Stinking Bathroom. The WISE Principal retorted " You should live in US then" -- Why ? Dont we Indians know to lve in healthy conditions ? Or to keep our bathrooms clean ? Looks like The Wise Mrs.Vijayalakshmi uses an open air toilet in her house & is used to the stink.

I suggest that we as parents of our small loving kids, offer to take turns to clean the bathrooms daily. Can the P T A President take it up with the School Authorities?

The PTA should also initiate action, esp in view of the diseses being spread, by writing to the Health Dept about the conditions in the school.

Hi,

I have heard the school is collecting Rs.4800/- from every student with immediate effect, siting the reason that governement has hiked the salaries of teachers. How do they come up with such huge amount? What is the base of calculating this amount?

sundar said...

Fee hike- how can they increase retrospectively and such an unreasonable amount. I understand that they have asked for remittance of Rs.400 per month, ie 4800 per child. Parents having two or more child studying in the school would have much more burden- all of a sudden in this economic slowdown. Further if you calculate that minimum 2000 - 2500 children are studying it comes around Rs.1 crore and above. Is it going only for hike in salary for teachers? Assuming 100 teachers are there, is it Rs.10 lakh as arrears going to be paid per teacher? Full justification to be given by the management by circular and it should not be retrospective. Earlier there was a proposal to form an association but it didn't happen. Had it been a strong Parent's Association, the management would have discussed with them and then taken decision accordingly.

Unknown said...

This is absolutely rediculous to hike the fee with out any proper reason. I dont think that the management is going to increase the salary of the teachers.Last year the management has given a hike of Rs.1200. if at all they increase the salary the max hike is going to be Rs.1500. For this hike why do they require this huge amount. Smart class room comes under last year's budget of the management, how can they do the collection now. This is absolute black mailing which has to be questioned by every parent.

Balu said...

Hai All,
I too agree with both of you on the fee hike they asked for.It is ridiculaous. They are asking Rs.4800 for one child. What is basis? We should all take up this the management. Iam sure they will not be giving all this to teachers.Afterall we are also not getting more than 10% hike every year, the hike asked by the manegement comes to almost 30% of the fees. How can they raise that much. Iam ready to take up this issue if enough support is there.

Surabhi said...

There going to happen a parent teachers meeting in the Kolapakkam branch this saturday. I think this issue has to be taken collectively across all the branches and need to find a solution. As it was clear that the amount demanded is far more than what is required for a descent hike of salary to the teachers, the management should come down from their demand to a justifiable stand.

Balu said...

I am totally disappointment and shocked that we are taken by surprise by the school. It is totally unfair for them to put so much financial pressure on parents that too in the middle of the year when parents have no other chocie than to pay the same. Approximate total number of students is 3000 plus. Each class has 40 plus students. Total number of teachers may be 75 to 80 + other support staff may be 20. Total staff strength may be 100. If we assume the salary hike amount is Rs.1500/- pm per head, the total expense will be Rs.1.5 lakhs. But the school authority proposed to collect money from parents at the rate Rs.400/-. Total amount per month for 3000 plus students will be Rs.12 lakhs. So the excess amount per month is approx. Rs.10 lakhs and for 12 months 1.2 crore. The total hike in fees including the fees paid at the beginning of the year comes about 70%. Whereas we get salary hike not even 10 to 15% per annum.

ram.badran said...

Hi

I see that lot of you have written about the additional fee being collected by the school management.
But seriously I need to know what each one of you, who has written here, (Couple of parents have spoken to me about this) are actually contemplating doing on this.... approach the management as a representative group? any other ideas?

Somebody has said that Kolappakam branch is having a parent teachers meeting on Saturday and take up the issue with them

If you take up this issue with the management there, can you drop a line to let us know the outcome.

Unknown said...

This is regarding the KOlappakam Branch

I am just wondering why school authorities proposed to collect the amount 400 per student. Even i dint find any good infrastrusture or study material in that school. For pre-kg there is no toys or even no playing materials. They have taken around 40000 rs for the adminssion for an Pre kg student.

For this increament they mentioned about the sixth pay commission. Please look into the sixthpay commision clauses carefully before blaming on pay commission.

Any way I am not happy with what the school management is doing.Even the teaching is also not upto the mark.

No i am just thinking i bought a barking dog

Unknown said...

Hi

Iam totally disappoint and upset of way they are handling..The amount Rs. 4800 which they are trying to collect from each student making unhappy ridiculaous..anyway management should have to come out for this issue and to resolve smoothly..means, not to collect any amount from us..

It's a shame for Pon Vidyashram management. They are taking heinous path to earn money in the name of education. It's an anti social activity as it is going to create a bad impact on society. Any organization/institution having lot of customers (e.g. bank customers, students etc) can make huge money in one go in this way. No way is it acceptable to increase fees even for the bygone months. Will the school staffs be given arrear for the past months? If anybody is from legal back ground, pls. come forward and suggest what should be done to stop this immediately. It’s very important to save the lovely kids from being sacrificed to some greedy, inhuman persons.

I come to know that few parents are decided to have meeting at PV, Valasaravakkam on Monday the 2nd Nov '09 at 10.00 am. We all have to participate in this meet to express our strong objection to collect any additional fee for this year.

Unknown said...

Hi
It was totally another surprise from the school regarding the hike in fees. All the parents should stands as one and sort out this problem.
We have to form an association, but i really don't understand when one problem arises only parents talk and after that they just ignore this,So pls see to that we stand together and see the happenings of school through an association.

Neeraj said...

HI All, Itis really a disappointment to all. I suppose we should all gather at the PV, Valasaravakkam on Monday the 2nd Nov '09 at 10.00 am to put the concerns in front of management. hope it will take a good shape.

Unknown said...

Hi All,
I have come across concerns regarding fees hike by PV. just want to say that there might be some parents who can afford even this unacceptable request from school. but my sincere request to you all to not consider this demand from school management.
We already had paid a handsome amount (around 40,000/-) to the school at the time of admission. also it was one time payment of fees in advance (that usually is taken term wise in other school).
There might be many people who can easily pay against this fees hike, but think of that lot of parents who might have heavily managed to pay 40,000/- to school in single strech to get a school for their Kids.
Above all, it is nothing but a question of carrier of our kids, but for that sake we can't blindly obey all the ugly things which school demands.
I strongly feel that we all should meet at PV, Valasaravakkam on Monday the 2nd Nov '09 at 10.00 am in order to put our concern in front of magement.
Also if possible, upto whatever extent you all can inform other parents also regarding same.
This is the way we can put pressure against them to take their odd words back.

Neeraj said...

I agree with Lajya, lets meet at PV, Valasaravakkam on Monday.

Neeraj said...

this is a good initiative, lets make it.

Unknown said...

Its a good idea to meet on 2nd morning 10 am at school. This is a heartless decission by the management to hike the fee all of a sudden. How many parents can afford this and how can they organize this amount. we cant expect anything else from this kind of a greedy management. Its shocking to know certain things when we did a thorough analysis of the facilities in valasrawalkam school. As per the CBSE norms, every CBSE school is sopposed to have a well organized Maths lab and English lab, which is not at all there in any of the pon vidyashram branches. Why is Mrs. YGP who acts as the brand ambasador,is she not worried about the basic facilities of the school. I came to know that the 1st floor and 3rd floor girl's toilets are not in a condition to use as the water is getting leaked in to the nearby class rooms. The class rooms behind the new wing, are poorly ventilated hence, congested. The management blames the 6th pay commision for the fee hike, after all by how much is the salary going to be hiked. In case of absence of teachers, ayas are taking care of the classes or the children are left aloaf. Teachers never pay any attention to the average and below average students. Their total focus is on bright students. In every parent teachers meeting most of the parents would have experienced the advise from the teachers to make the child study at home,I fail to understand if thats the job of the parents why are the teachers paid and why should I send my kid to the school. At home I teach them discipline and good habits, but the teacher does in the class.

Unknown said...

HI, I need to know i thing that: Is in any case a school can hike the fees in the middle of the session? As of my knowledge, it can never happen. kindly correct me if I am wrong.

Also anybody from legal background, can guide us well as to what step can be taken.

Even this happened in Delhi sometime back, parents were angry with this decission of schools & lately court put some stay on same. I want to know if anybody can let us know what finally happened there. this will guide us the way to proceed.

Whosoever have any information on same, kindly share as soon as possible, because school had given only one week time to pay the fees.

If we follow school's demand now, then they can come again in upcoming future & will be a tread in education system. We should strictly do something before it's too late.

REQUESTING YOU ALL, PLEASE JOIN HANDS AND COME FORWARD.

sundar said...

All should meet on 2nd Nov at PV on 10.00 a.m and voice our concern strongly against this unjustifiable fee hike. Pls pass on this msg to all the parents nearby.

Unknown said...

I completely agree with Sundar's thoughts and all parents of PV students should meet express our views and concerns on unintimated fees hike.

As a management, i am sure they should have taken all the forecast and budgeting taken care during the beginning of the year before they fix the fee structure for the academic year.

Reasons quoted by the management for the fee hike is unjustiable like projector cost, salary hike etc etc...

I think the Parents teacher Association should play a bigger role here.

ram.badran said...

Dear Parents,

Let us all gather together at PV, Valasaravakkam branch on 2nd Nov, 2009 at 10 a.m.

The fees which they are asking is ridiculous.

We should not pay the fees for the following reasons :-
1. Infrastructure facility is not at all good.
2. Training the students at school is not done
3. Especially for the second language
4. Leave apart the studies, there is not even a single EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITY in the school
5. The school should bring out the talents of the students, but it is not the case in our School
6. No proper response / respect for the parents.

UNITY IS STRENGTH. Let us all gather at the school WITHOUT FAIL ON 2ND NOV, AT 10 A.M.

sundar said...

As Mr Ramabadran said, when there was issue last year, around 150-200parents came together and started the process of forming of association. But once that issue diluted, parents forgot the necessity of coming to-gether for any future issue and have not formed association. Still around 60 parents are well in touch with each other and are discussing the issues. Mrs Shanthi & Vijayaraghavan would be available alongwith like minded parents at 9.30 a.m on 2nd Nov. and let us meet and discuss the issue first and represent to the management.

ram.badran said...

Hi

While it is good that many parents are planning to meet and discuss various issues to put forth to the management, I think it would be better if we are able to agree on some kind of agenda for the meeting on the 2nd so that a list of grievances and possible resolutions can be put forth before the school. It will also be time saving for all of us.

The first point on the agenda is probably the fee hike now, but there many be other issues that people want to raise. Can we list them here as a starting point?

Mr. Sundar has mentioned that there are about 60 parents who are in touch with each other - maybe they can make a list and post it here?

Glad to hear that we are meeting tomorrow as planned despite some positive news from the school management.
